The story about Te Fiti, a god well being who create island on the seas, cheated by a demi god warrior named Maui (Dwayne Johnson), he stole her heart by his weapon, a fish hook. Angry Te Fiti try to catch Maui but he was a real trickster who had wind power, avoiding all attacks by transforming into animals and successfully leave Te Fiti region. But Te Ka the one who called a demon that also need the power of Te Fiti is starting to stole the heart from Maui, but as story told the glorious warrior, Maui is lost by the Te Ka and not shown anymore. Moana (Auli’i Cravalho), daugther of the village chief of Motonui, the island who filled with lot of coconut and all workcraft made by that. She intended to be a chieftain of the island but her heart not mean to be it, after trying to be a leader of them she try to be a good leader by trying to tell the idea to go beyond the reef.
The father , Tui ex-chief of Motonui (Temuera Morrison) was againts of all it, he got reason, the story about he fail to save his friend made him to lose it the feel for go beyond the island, he just don’t want to lose another one.
After know the story, Moana accompanied with Pua the piglet still believe there more fish beyond the reef, and they are trying to cruise with a small boat, but it failed. Met her grand mother, who give clue about mysterious information that led about the truth, something related to Moana.
Moana goes inside the cave that been told by that grandma, and found out about the story of their ancestor that far from the knowledge that her father been told until this time. The ancestor mean to be a wayfinder, not be an islander. Moana goes to boat and do what her grandma wish, to find Maui and try to ask him to return the Heart of Te Fiti back to the original place, additionally HeiHei (Alan Tudyk) the chicken was there too, they are made a journey to find Maui and happen the storm and wind are thrown them into sea, then she was wash out to an island and found out the sign of fish hook, realized it was hook of Maui, she know she will met him there.
But he can’t leave the island since he trying to steal the heart for immortality, he trick her and and stole the boat. But she was outsmart the condition and escape the cave and jump to the sea, with the help of sea, she able to stop the Maui and land the boat. After while, Kakamora who find out about the heart. They caught into fight Moana and Maui with coconut demon, Kakamora, the Kakamora able to snatch the HeiHei who eat the heart but Moana not giving up, she land on the big boat of the Kakamora and steal back the chicken with heart and jump back to boat with Maui, they run away from the fight while the Kakamora smaller boat are hitting together and failed to smash Moana boat.
She try to convince Maui since he wont to help her to put back the stone to Te Fiti, after getting the idea about to be a hero, Maui look like interested but wont do it if he not getting the magical Fish Hook, without it Maui just become a strong man without any god abilities.
Maui teach Moana to master wayfinding, especially on using the boat efficiently, after day they arrive on Tamatoa (Jemaine Clement) realm gate, it connecting the world to the monster realm, Maui discourage her not to join his journey to below the monster realm, but she wont hear Maui and climb the tower by herself. On the top they found the entrance to monster realm, and they jump down and found the hook on the top of Tamatoa, the greed crab. Moana is tricking the giant crab with glowing algae and fake it, after knowing it fake the crab is chasing them but to late, they are tossed out from the real of monster and the Tamatoa got hit on the face and thrown back.
The story of Maui is told, and back of the time, he was just a human that leave alone by his parent on the sea, a god found him and give him the hook and give the power as demi god, it told that he always to be human favourite, and the last time the give that he want to give to humanity is the heart of Te Fiti. After the time of story, Maui also regain the power of magical fish hook, after training with Moana he ready to met the Te Fiti for giving back what he stole before. The Heart. At the region on Te Fiti, he met the Te Ka who send out him by blast of fire, Moana not give up and try to find out a way to skip the Te Ka. But a clash between them had throw them to shore, it hard hit and almost break the fish hook, Maui not accepting the state and he wont continue the journey and choose to leave Moana. Moana in state of lose, met with her grandma who transformed from a Manta Ray and telling her it was her call to be just like her ancestor. Realize the situation, Moana with her knowledge as voyager and way finder, tricks the Te Ka and successfully going in to Te Fiti, the battle continue after Maui stop the attacks. Moana try to find Te Fiti but not found, as she found out the sign of Te Fiti is on Te Ka, she know it was Te Fiti thats just angry and just want Maui give back the heart stone.
Enter Te Fiti, she fix the fish hook of Maui, and give a present a boat full of fruits for Moana. Maui resent his doing, and he won’t join Moana to come to Motonui, he leave the journey and let her going home to see her parents as well telling the good event that she had.
