At the office of Paul (Billy Burke), Esther (Lotta Losten) the assistant of Paul found something weird with the light and shadow below it. After she observe it, she looking into shadow with form look like a body standing on the corner of the room, after that she is turn on the light and the shadow is gone, as she turn the lights out she got the sillhouette just like keeping move near to her, assuming it weird and feel scare, she told to Paul about something that happen on the room as he doesn’t care about it and send her home as she wanted, Paul just continue the job and at the last he just starting to feel what happen to Esther, he try to find out but in the end he just to escape the situation, after the chase he caught and killed by the shadow.
Sophie (Maria Bello), was the part of family of Paul, and she was the wife of him. She has son whose name Martin (Gabriel Bateman), incidentally Martin seeing Sophie talk alone to a figure, and Martin is feeling weird and scared about it. It’s happen just like the figure is haunting him overnight, it makes him imsomnia because the sound and activity disturb Martin in the night. Rebecca (Teresa Palmer), the sister of Martin know about it, and Martin insist the sister to let him live on her apartment, since her living with the night life and having boyfriend she was refuse it, and after that she just accept as long Marting goes home on other night. On the apartment, the figure trying to attack Sophie, as the light is out, she was on move for hunting this kid and the girl but it stopped with the light goes on from outside. After night, Rebecca found out about a name, Diana, it write on the floor and she is trying to remember who is Diana, and eventually remember why Paul leaving them behind. Finding more information, Rebecca found out the relation between her mother and Diana, and what happen to Diana because of experiment. Diana having unusual condition, she was weak to the light and she is sensitive to the light, the experiment made for testing her with a blast of light to her body, sadly she is died after the light blast on her body.
The night after, Sophie is trying to be more intimate with her son, Martin. She told about the shadow that she had talk on other days it was a figure, called Diana. Martin is starting to feel weird because the Diana is starting to move near him, and instantly Martin looking up and seeing Diana above and suddenly as fast as he move to start to light up the light and escape from the house before Diana harm. For few talks to Rebecca, Martin insist to live with her rather than living on at home with Diana around, and Rebecca with the help of her boyfriend, try to visit the home, it was long after she leave the place long ago. Rebecca ask Sophie about Diana, but she is denied about it, after that Rebecca was staying overnight on the home, but Sophie leave a short note with text of “i need help” while she is going back to the room. After read the message, she is feeling right about the information, especially the light on the house that always out to keep Diana living on the house. Diana knows what happen in the house, they are tricked by Diana to come to basement after short out power, while the machine on basement, they decided to come below. The boyfriend, that not join Rebecca to the basement is attacked by Diana, while he try to help Rebecca he was out and running away. On the basement, Rebecca find some light to light on the place, but fortunately it was blacklight, an ultraviolet lamp to see something that can’t see with bare eyes.
On the basement, she found a letter that scratched by Diana, it tells about Diana want to use Sophie and prevent people to take her, that mean to remove her. And the information about Diana kill Rebecca father, since Rebecca having different father with Martin. A police car is visit the house, they was called by the boyfriend, the try to help but nothing can they do for them, after that Diana trying to kills Rebecca and Martin, and Sophie is coming and said, there is no one can take them from her, even it Diana. When DIana looking at her, Sophie initiated the gun to her head, and shot it. After doing that, Diana is disappeared from the house.
